Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander, MD - story of a neurosurgeon’s journey into the afterlife
The Leader’s Code by Donovan Campbell - my guide-book to character, service and getting the job done
What activities were you involved in high school and college?
Played tennis in high school and college, won the Missouri state singles title in 1973. Played for Rockhurst College (NAIA District 16) and qualified for the NAIA national tournament .I restored and drove British sports cars (MG, Triumph, Austin Healy). During the height of American muscle cars, I thought it would make me appear more cosmopolitan? Didn’t work, but loved my British convertibles! They were a constant challenge to keep running (Lucas electrical systems were often called the Prince of Darkness).
What is your favorite board game, and do you usually win?
I was undefeated at Monopoly from 4th grade thru college. I was always the banker, probably had some impact on my chosen career?
What is the worst movie you have ever seen and who did you see it with?
I never went to the movies much, still don’t. I did often go the rock concerts with friends, Doobie’s, Kansas, Boston, Styx, Chicago, Crosby Stills Nash & Young. I was a wanna-be rock musician and front man for my own band. We were really AWFUL !
What pets have you had and what are their names?
We always had dogs. My first was a beagle named Sargent. He bit every member of the family, neighbors and friends but never even growled at me. He slept on my pillow.
What is your most prized or sentimental possession? Explain.
I have an Italian racing bicycle I’ve had for 30+ years. I named her“ Red”. In my 30’s I was in great shape and raced “Red” locally and regionally. She was capable of far more than her owner. I still have her and she is in far better shape than me.
