Ana (top/left) dressed as a vampire for Halloween! I don't have a picture of Alma in costume, but here is her beautiful school photo! Our club is proud to sponsor these two amazing young ladies as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange program for one year. Ana is from Romania, and Alma is from Italy. Ana is looking for a different host family for the 2nd semester, if she can find one with kids. If you think you might be able to help out, please contact Lenet Compton asap: lenetcompton@gmail.com
I just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that WE NEED COATS!! I hope all of you will take a moment this weekend to go through your closets (tell your family members to do the same) and pull out any old coats. Try sending an email to your coworkers, as I did, and ask for additional donations. Here's an example of the email I sent:
Hi everyone! I am collecting used winter coats for a coat drive that the Lenexa Rotary Club is participating in. If you get a chance over the next week or two, please go through your closets and pull out any coats you don't use anymore. If you've read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, you know what to do: lay any old coats/jackets on your bed, touch them, and ask yourself, "Does this bring me joy?" If the answer is no, get rid of it! What's more, the coat will bring joy to someone in Johnson County! Ask any friends and family members to do the same. Then bring your coats to me and I will get them donated to the Johnson County Christmas Bureau!
Friday's meeting is your LAST CHANCE to bring winter coats. The collected coats will be donated to the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. Greg Peterson (who has been collecting the coats) will not be at our meeting this week, so give your coats to JC Burcham. As of Wednesday morning, our club has collected 77 coats!
