This Friday our speaker will be Ross Dessert, President of Uplift Organization.

Uplift Organization is a mobile street outreach for the homeless of Kansas City.  Three nights a week, they take four Sprinter vans loaded with food, clothing, and other essential supplies out to the homeless.

They meet them at parks, under bridges, at their camps, or wherever they are.  They typically serve 250-400 people each night and they never miss a night!

Uplift is 100% donation-based and run completely by volunteers.  Uplift has no paid staff and is not affiliated with any particular church or religious organization.

Uplift believes in the power of unconditional love and kindness.  They welcome all people of good will to join them in this work.

Throw In The Towel Event

Throw In The Towel

From Sergeant-At-Arms Fred Spears  . . .

BRING IN YOUR TOWELS!  We are collecting towels in JANUARY for the Great Plains Animal Shelter where they use them for bedding, toys and to clean the animals.

Last year we collected about 165 pounds of towels and got some great PR for the Club.

Please bring your old (clean) towels to one or more of the five January meetings where they will be collected.  There will be a bin on the first floor of Lakeview Village-Southridge.  Please put them there and do not bring them up to our meeting room.

Thank you for your help and generosity. This is a unique event where we are asking for neither time or money, just stuff you should be getting rid of anyway and it is for another of our good causes. Thank you!

January-Anti Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Every year since 2010, the President has dedicated the month to raise awareness about human trafficking and to educate the public about how to identify and prevent this crime. The U.S. Department of State raises awareness of human trafficking domestically and abroad, through U.S. embassies and consulates.

During this month, we celebrate the efforts of foreign governments, international organizations, anti-trafficking entities, law enforcement officials, survivor advocates, communities of faith, businesses, and private citizens all around the world to raise awareness about human trafficking.
