Stop Hunger Now - Beer Can Collection
We are again having a "beer can collection" to raise money for Stop Hunger Now. It was a huge success and Lenexa Rotary along with the SMNW Interact Club packaged meals that were then sent Nepal to feed people recovering from a 7.9 magnitude earthquake.
Sergeant-At-Arms, Fred Spears has beer cans available for members who need one. Please fill them up with coins and/or a check and return them to Fred Spears. Fred says that a 12 oz. can will hold approximately: $70 in quarters, $81 in dimes, or $21 in nickels -- or you can just write a check! Money will be collected until December 4th. We plan on again packaging meals with the SMNW Interact sometime this winter.
Notes from the "YPad"
One note on the YPad last last week. "The birthday wine is always nice. I never know which meeting the wine is given. Is there a guideline?
The answer is: Wine is given for Rotarians' birthday and wedding anniversary. The wine is given when your birthday/wedding anniversary falls within the day of the meeting through the following Thursday. You must be at that meeting to receive the wine. For example, this Friday the birthdays/wedding anniversaries to be recognized will be from Sept. 4-10.
During the meeting if you think of some thing that you want to share, feel free to jot it down on the YPad -- a random thought, a suggestion, a compliment, an idea for a speaker, a joke, etc. Each week President Amy will pick up the YPads and report any messages in the newsletter and at the following meeting.
