Our program this Friday will be Us - the members of Lenexa Rotary.
As many of you know, Past President Steve Nettles unexpectedly passed away in September. Steve served as the District Chair of the Anti-Human Trafficking committee and was scheduled to speak to our club this week.
As Tedd Maxfield shared recently, Rotary is ultimately about the friendships we build during our weekly meetings. This Friday, we will gather to share a meal, connect with one another, and enjoy the fellowship of your fellow Rotarians.
We have secured a date to build a handicap ramp with HopeBUILDERS. We will be building the ramp along with Shawnee Rotary and Shawnee Mission Northwest Interact. To sign-up please CLICK HERE
No experience is necessary. All supplies will be provided except gloves. Please bring your own gloves.
You will need to create an account in their volunteer system if you don't already have one, and then you can sign up. If anyone has problems, please email Jill at HopeBUILDERS
Our Sergeant-At-Arms, Fred Spears, is starting a Book Drive to benefit the Learn to Read program, whose representatives spoke at our Club several weeks ago.
The drive will run through October. Fred will have a collection bucket at our upcoming meetings for new or gently used books. Information sheets with a preferred book list will be available on the tables at this week's meeting. If you prefer to make a monetary contribution to purchase books, donations will also be accepted that way. Thank you for your support.
Fred stated that he would like to have a pile of books 20 feet high!
