Our speaker this Friday will be District Governor Michell Sink.
Michelle was born and raised in Pratt, Kansas, and has called Manhattan home since 1995. She’s a proud mom to two kids — Macey and Mason — as well as a small flock of chickens, two cats, and a thriving plant collection.
Professionally, Michelle serves as the Area Director for Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters Area 3, where she helps create lasting impact by connecting caring adult mentors with youth, building relationships that change lives today and shape brighter futures for generations to come.
Known as the district's "Fun'Gineer," Michelle believes the best way to create lasting impact is to make service meaningful, relationships authentic, and Rotary fun. Since joining the Manhattan Konza Rotary Club in 2016 (and earning a Rotary tattoo along the way!), she's served as Club President, District Membership Co-Chair, and a champion for Interact and Rotaract. As District 5710 Governor for 2026–27, she hopes to inspire every member to discover their Rotary moment and create lasting impact—in their own lives, their clubs, their communities, and around the world.
President Kevin announced last Friday that member and Past President of Lenexa Rotary, Steve Nettles, died suddenly on September 23, 2026. Steve was a loyal member since 2015 and was currently the District Chair for Anti-Human Trafficking.
No services are scheduled at this time, but the family will have a Celebration of Life for Steve in the next couple of months.
October will mark the start of the Lenexa Fire Department's Fire Safety Trailer visits at Lenexa-area elementary schools in honor of Fire Safety Month.

Our Sergeant-At-Arms, Fred Spears, is starting a Book Drive to benefit the Learn to Read program, whose representatives spoke at our Club several weeks ago.
The drive will run through October. Fred will have a collection bucket at our upcoming meetings for new or gently used books. Information sheets with a preferred book list will be available on the tables at this week's meeting. If you prefer to make a monetary contribution to purchase books, donations will also be accepted that way. Thank you for your support.
Fred stated that he would like to have a pile of books 20 feet high!
