I developed civil service test for 6 years and licensing/certification tests for 37 years. Our company developed testing for about 80 different occupations and administrated several hundred thousand exams over the years. I even worked with the Funeral Directors on their national exam.
What was your first job?
Mowing lawns for my grandfather and our next door neighbor- got a $1 per lawn. My first commercial job was at McDonalds for $1/hr. Worked the grill - most burgers I ever grilled at one one time was 96. I smelled like hamburger grease after every shift. I cannot eat McDonalds burgers now
What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
I like walking, woodworking projects and doing small home repairs. I like volunteering with HopeBuilders making ramps. I also like fishing for walleyes-but only in Canada where the fish are eager to be caught!
Where did you grow up and what was it like?
I grew up in a small town of 30,000 people in northwestern Illinois - Freeport. There wasn’t much on TV so I played a lot of sandlot sports year round with my friends, in the heat of summer and snowy days of winter. Fortunately, there was a decent size group of kids all about the same age so we had enough for two teams - regardless of the sport.
What is a favorite movie you always recommend to people? Why do you love it?
My favorites are probably Young Frankenstein and Beetllejuice. I like the humor! I also like action movies - like James Bond and Jason Bourne. Nice to see bad guys get their due!
If you were coming out onto a stage, what would your entrance theme song be?
Right Where I Belong - Flatlanders
What is your favorite type of cuisine to cook or eat?
BBQ and Italian- both too much fun to make and too good to eat to choose a favorite!
