Marshall Rimann
What is your occupation?
I opened Rimann Liquors of Lenexa in 1983 and Rimann Liquors of Prairie Village in 1999. Mary and I sold both stores in the past few years to long-time members of the Rimann Liquors team. The store are now Wingert Liquors, in Lenexa, and Paul Otto’s Rimann Liquors in Prairie Village.
What was your first job?
Grocery store clerk & “bag boy”, Allen’s Supermarket, Junction City, Kansas
What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
I fill my creative urges with photography and acting in local theatre
Where did you grow up and what was it like?
I grew up in the Rinehardt Estates area of Fairway, Kansas, in the 1950’s. It was like the neighborhood depicted on “Leave it to Beaver”, including the same cultural homogeneity. I attended J. C. Nichols Elementary School through 2nd grade, Highlands Elementary through 6th grade, Indian Hills Jr. High and Shawnee Mission East
What is a favorite movie you always recommend to people? Why do you love it?
Without a doubt, I recommend The Godfather and The Godfather Part II. The story is epic, the cinematography is excellent, and the cast includes some of the best actors in motion picture history. Having said that, the 1980 movie Airplane! is one of the funniest ever
If you were coming out onto a stage, what would your entrance theme song be?
Everything’s Coming up Roses from the musical GYPSY: “Curtain Up… Light the lights… We got nothin’ to hit but the heights”
What is your favorite type of cuisine to cook or eat?
My favorite cuisine is Italian but over the years, my most memorable meals have usually been simple dishes of fresh seafood served near an ocean
