Youth Exchange-District Info

Youth Exchange is planning on starting up normal operations soon and will be starting with our outbound interviews this fall.  Clubs wanting to send an outbound student will want to start their club level interviews in September or October.  The full application will be due to District 5710 YEO, Stephen Wheatley, by December 1st.  The application is now all done online.  If you club has has a student that has made it through the club level interview process, please contact Stephen Wheatley at wheatleydc@sbcglobal.net for instructions on how to complete the application online.  We will also be looking for clubs to host the inbound students that will be coming in the fall of 2022.

Update on the Trafficking Survivor Reintegration Global Grant

This week 25 Go Bags, phones and phone cards were brought to the training center for Denise to give to survivors for best use.  Ticheyla Martin is the new hire for the boutique and will be there most of the time.  Brian Reddi helped set up Zoom on the computers in the training room.  One of the survivors was already participating in training.  The computers however do not have a camera.  Denise will purchase compatible computer cameras separately for use.  Clothes were steamed and ironed and made ready for sale.  (pictured L to R are Usha Reddi, CAAHT Club President, Denise Lester, Rended Heart Director and Ticheyla Martin, Boutique Manager).

The grand opening is planned for Saturday, July 10, from 11:00 to 3:00.  The address is 1014 Main Street, Grandview, Missouri.  It would be nice if a group from our club attended.  Let Lenet Compton know if you are interested.  Unless it is bad weather, Lenet will not be attending because she will be cutting lavender for Veronica's Voice, another resource for survivors.

Rotary and County Square

To date, we know the majority of Clubs in District 5710 have indicated they will work to meet their goal of $50 per member: As a Bonus, District 5710 has committed $4,000 to help fund this effort.

Rotary is working with the County to develop a permanent signage/recognition element for the Tree Grove to memorialize this Rotary gift to the people of Johnson county - hopefully listing the participating clubs.

The current February membership count of the Johnson County Clubs is 587 Rotarians. At $50 per member, the District could easily reach  a total of $29,350.   There will be a prize for the club with the most significant percentage over their goal. The Lenexa Rotary Foundation has pledged $1000 but is requesting a $50 donations from all members.  All contributions from club members are voluntary. It is our hope that we will reach the $50 goal.

Please make your check out to "The Lenexa Rotary Foundation" and send your check to:
