Our District Governor for District 5710, Jenalea Randall, will be having her "official visit" to our Club.
Jenalea (Jen-ah-lee) Randall, District Governor 2023-24, has been a Rotarian since 2009 when she joined the Rotary Club of Topeka South. She has served in various roles including as Club President, Membership Chair, Club Service Chair, and Club Administration Chair, 2014-2015. At the district level, Jenalea served as the District Membership Chair from 2020 to 2022.
Jenalea graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, with a degree in public relations and Baker University with a master’s degree in business and marketing. Her career has focused on engaging communities, partners and other stakeholders through strategic, meaningful communications. She has worked in the non-profit sector, for state and federal governments, and corporate organizations. Currently she is the deputy director of communications for the Kansas Department for Children and Families.
In addition to her work, Jenalea is the past chair of the American Red Cross board of directors, past chair of the Greater Topeka Partnership’s Military Relations Council, past chair of the American Cancer Society’s Couture for Cancer, and has served in various leadership positions with other professional and community groups.
Jenalea has lived in Topeka for more than 22 years and grew up in Hartford, Kansas, located in Lyon county. She was married in 2007 to Tony Randall, who passed away in 2014 from brain cancer. Since his passing, Jenalea has engaged in cancer awareness and treatment fundraising and military activities that promote the well-being of service members and their families to honor Tony’s memory and service in the United States Army.
This coming school year, Lenexa Rotary will be hosting two (2) Youth Exchange Students. We understand both students are fairly proficient English speakers.
Park is coming from Korea. He will be a student at Shawnee Mission Northwest. We are looking for a host family for Park beginning in October.
Peppa is from Spain and will attend DeSoto High. Lenexa Rotarians, Nathalie Brech and Christopher Coleman will be host families; however, we are looking for an additional host family for Peppa beginning around Spring Break in 2024.
Please ask your family and friends if they are interested in being a host family. If interested or if you have questions, please contact Tedd Maxfield
I’m excited to serve as our 2023-24 Chair of the Lenexa Rotary Foundation. I wanted to provide you an update on our status and planning. We will be having live lunch meetings quarterly at Zarda BBQ. Our first meeting will be August 16th from 11:30am to 12:30pm. All Rotarians are welcome. For non-Board Members, please send me a note ahead of time if you plan to attend so I can have enough seats set aside. All Rotarians are able to submit a grant request for review. If you have a project or cause in mind, please consider submitting a grant request. For consideration at the August 16th Board meeting, make sure to email me your grant request by August 5th.

What is your favorite Rotary memory or project? I have been impressed with the many service projects of the Lenexa Rotary Club and have been volunteering when I can. My favorite project was our annual picnic which we threw for a local sheltered workshop, ShrimpFest, of course has been fun.
When you are not working, how do you spend your time? My lady friend, Mary Swan, and I have commenced traveling. I also have a great dog to care for and play with. I am also active in the KC MG car club. I have owned my MG for nearly 59 years but have never had so much fun with as now! Of course, with the Grands, I keep pretty busy going to games and events. Not sure how I would have time to work! We are truly enjoying retirement.
