What is/was or Occupation:
After graduation, I worked for KPMG on the audit Staff. After receiving an invitation to take a military physical. I decided to check out the Marine Corps. I spent three years with the Reconnaissance Battalion as the Supply Officer. I also had the auxiliary duty as the Diving Officer. On completion of active duty, I returned to KPMG and worked three years there.
Joined Dayton Hudson Corporation (now Target) on the Audit Staff. Spent ten years with them working up to Director, Corporate Accounting and was also CFO of their Jewelry Division.
Eventually left and moved to Kansas City as CFO of Payless Cashway. Worked there for three years. Eventually moved to Operational Consulting preparing the business case for many large projects.
After I retired, I opened the "Complete Garage" in Lenexa and operated it for 10 years.
What was your first job:
First job was being a cook in a Drive Inn as a freshman. Drive Inns were not very automated in those days. Worked all summer while in school.
What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
Favorite hobby is skiing and hiking. It used to be hockey but I gave that up about 10 years ago. Travel is also high on my list.
Where did you grow up and what was it like?
I grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis. Pure Ozzie and Harriet. We had a lot of freedom in those days and life was good.
What is a favorite movie you always recommend to people? Why do you love it?
I do not see many movies nowadays. I much prefer movies where I'm feeling good when I leave the theater. I enjoy classical music and theater. I have seen some great movies but can't remember the titles when asked.
If you were coming out onto a stage, what would your entrance theme song be?
If I were walking out on a stage, I'd probably be dancing and not singing. I love the oldies and music from musicals like The Music Man. Prefer songs where I can understand the words.
What is your favorite type of cuisine to cook or eat?
Favorite food is Italian. Trouble is I eat too much of it when I dine out.
