This Friday . . .

Our speaker on Friday will be our own Dylan Roney.  Dylan is the Director of Strategic Partnerships at Emerald Prairie Health.  They supply disinfectants and PPE to hospitals, schools, vet clinics, and many corporations.

Emerald Prairie Health has a disinfectant that is normally used in control rooms and surgeries, due to its safe and effective nature. It is nationally EPA registered, on the List N (Approved for use against COVID), and beneficial to the environment. It is so effective that it can kill the hardest to kill pathogen, C-Diff. Yet it is so safe that you can pour it directly on your skin or down the drain.
Rotary Matters
Register for District Conference

Looking for a fantastic opportunity to spend a little time socializing, learning, and volunteering with some of your closest – or brand new – Rotary friends?  We have just the opportunity for you!

One of the highlights of the Rotary year is the annual District Conference; an opportunity to join fellow Rotarians from across northeast Kansas for a few days of information, inspiration, and fun!  The committee has put together a great schedule of events, and we’d love to see you there.  Our theme, “Building Champions, Changing the World”, will play upon Kansas City’s recent sports reputation as a budding “Title Town”, while focusing the work of our clubs and members to improve our communities – both locally and abroad.

Held on September 22-24, 2022, at the Hyatt Place at Lenexa City Center, the conference will feature nationally known keynote speakers, phenomenal breakout sessions on a variety of service and organizational topics (including several roundtable sessions that will allow you to brainstorm and compare notes with members from other clubs on a variety of relevant topics), hands-on service projects, and plenty of fellowship!

Click HERE to register for the conference today – don’t wait!  Discounted registration ends on August 31! Be sure to use the Promo Code EARLYBIRD to receive the special rate!

The program includes:
Thursday:
11:00am: Rotary Golf Tournament at St. Andrews Golf Club (See attached Flyer)
6:00pm: Pub Crawl, Beginning at Transport Brewery in Downtown Shawnee

Friday:
A full day of inspiring keynote speakers (including Royals Announcer Ryan LaFebvre, KC World Cup Executive Director Katherine Holland, and Kansas State Football’s Joe Hall, Jr.) and breakout sessions!

In addition, we’ll be hosting a club “Service Fair” and encouraging each club to break out their best middle school science fair skills to create a two or three-fold poster display of their favorite project, for a chance at some great prizes (including a club happy hour sponsoring by me for your club!).  More details are attached!

Saturday:
We’ll start the day over breakfast talking about a topic that is very close to my heart – organ donation, with a keynote from a living kidney donor from India who is driving across the globe spreading the importance of donation, as well as comments from our newest district satellite club aimed at stopping organ trafficking/harvesting.

From there, we’ll finish out the conference doing hands-on service projects, including assembling disaster response kits for Heart to Heart International, “fresh start” kits for our local (CAAHT Club) sponsored anti-human trafficking global grant, and more!

Sponsors
We’re also still looking for sponsors, so if your business is interesting in supporting the work of 2,000 local Rotarians, we’d love to hear from you!  More information is attached!

For individual Rotarians, I’d specifically call out the $100 sponsorship level, which will go directly towards purchasing the supplies needed for our Saturday morning service work.  It’s a great way to help a fantastic cause and support the district!

We hope you’ll register for the conference today (HERE) and join us on September 22-24, 2022, in Lenexa!  You’ll be glad you did!

Beer Can Collection

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!

Last week Sergeant-At-Arms, Fred Spears, passed out beer cans to members in attendance.  This year the proceeds from this collection will go to the Stop Human Trafficking campaign.  Here is what to do:

Five easy steps:
  • Get your can from Fred
  • Drink it, or cook / grill with it
  • Clean the can and DRY the can
  • Fill the can with money – dimes & quarters usually add up to ~$75; cash and checks are fine too
  • Return to Fred through the end of September
  • Fred will give you another can and you can fill it up again or just drink it!

We will be selling food and drinks along-side the Lenexa Historical Society.  We have supported the Historical Society through the years with donations for the construction of the Legler Barn Museum and other projects.  Funds raised will be to a future project which is looking like an addition to the Museum, Black Hoof Park or new museum displays.

Times are only 2 hour shifts.  Help support the Lenexa Historical Society by signing up for a shift.  Contact Phil Hammond if you are interested in helping.
