Our speaker this Friday will be District Governor Chuck Udell.
Chuck is an active member of the Leawood Kansas Rotary Club, where he served as Club President during the 2018–2019 Rotary year.
Chuck is honored to serve as District Governor for the 2025–2026 Rotary year. At the Zone level, Chuck served as the House of Friendship Chair for Zones 25B & 29 from 2019 to 2021.
Chuck is married to fellow Leawood Rotarian Ester Udell for 49 years. They have two sons, Jeff and Andy, and four grandkids: Isaac, Eli, Caleb, and Rosie.
A third-generation Rotarian, Chuck takes great pride in his Rotary heritage. His grandfather was president of the Savannah, Georgia Rotary Club in 1954–1955.
For Chuck, being a Rotarian is about service and connection. He values the opportunity to improve lives and build lasting friendships across the globe.
Speaker will be Lenexa Rotarian Phil Hammond. Phil is past and current President of the Lenexa Historical Society. Phil was instrumental in the reconstruction of the Lenexa Bandstand and the Legler Barn Museum. Phil along with Lenexa Rotary is currently working on an Interpretive Sign at Wells Fargo, showing the original location of the Legler Barn, location of the Legler Barn Museum and the Santa Fe/Oregon/California/Military Trails crossing at 95th & Quivira Rd. Phil along with Lenexa Rotary is also working on a mural in Rosehill Elementary showing where the trails came through the school. Phil was given access to a diary and gives presentations of Lenexa's First Lady Nancy Becker's great-great uncle William Gordon covering the California Trail in 1850. Phil is Vice President of KCAHTA and a member of Shawnee Indian Mission Historical Society.
Come and listen to all the activities under way at Lenexa Historical Society and the City of Lenexa.
The Lenexa community came together to support foster kids with a packaging event at Lenexa United Methodist Church. Lenexa Rotary, Care Package Inbound, Shawnee Mission Northwest Interact and National Honor Society and Lenexa United Methodist Church packaged backpacks for the foster community. Lenexa Rotary funded this event from fundraisers such as ShrimpFest, and selling beverages at many Lenexa festivals.
I will be on vacation from October 9-24. Ben Harber has graciously agreed to do the newsletter for the next two weeks and Pat Thomas or Moe Cougher said they will fill in for me at the weekly meetings.
I will be taking a Viking Romantic Danube river cruise and then after the cruise will be going to Prague and Berlin.

Clue - No, I don't win. My 15 year old granddaughter beats me every time!
What is the worst movie you have ever seen and who did you see it with?
Any movie involving transformers. I had to sit through several of them wit my grandsons. It was sheer torture!
What pets have you had and what are their names?
My childhood collie, Nelly, and as an adult, my loving springer spaniel, Bogie

Photos of my family, friends, and travel. To paraphrase the old adage: "We are a part of everyone we meet" I feel incredibly blessed to have the family, friends, and experiences that have been a part of my life
