Rotarians & Friends of Rotary, This has been an incredibly busy year and it's hard to believe another year has gone by. I'm thankful for the time spent with my family, my health, and the opportunity of continued personal, professional and spiritual growth. Gratitude is easy when life is smooth. In these moments, abundance appears more readily. Even the sky seems brighter. It is more challenging to feel grateful when life is bumpy or uncertain. Doing so with gratitude can be even more challenging, and yet it is our most transformative choice. William Shakespeare said it best, “O Lord that lends me life, lend me a heart replete with thankfulness.” When we approach life with gratitude, things start to shift. Situations that seemed impossible begin to open, sometimes just a little at first. We begin to notice everything from small kindnesses to big achievements. I am always humbled when I see your contributions and support of our community. You make a difference in peoples’ lives. In those moments, I feel profoundly grateful to be able to call you my friends. Know that as I count my blessings this year, you are among them. This Thanksgiving, I wish you time with those who mean the most to you. I wish you peace of mind and the happiness that comes from doing the things you love. Most of all, I wish you gratitude. If you're traveling to be with loved ones across town or across the country, may the journey be a safe one and your time filled with laughter. If you're the host this year, may you also have patience! President Ben Harber 56th President, Rotary Club of Lenexa |
