This Friday David Lynch will be teaching us about AED and Emergency Preparedness.
Also at our next meeting we will meet our two Outbound Rotary Youth Exchange students for the coming year. Both students recently graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest and were members of the Interact Club. Carolyn Osbern will be going to Austria and Maddie Roberts will be going to Italy. We wish them well for the coming year and to enjoy their experience!
Notes from the "YPad"
You will notice that every week on each table there is a yellow pad, also known as the "YPad." During the meeting if you think of somethat that you want to share, feel free to jot it down on the YPad -- a random thought, a suggestion, a compliment, an idea for a speaker, a joke, etc. Each week President Amy will pick up the YPads and report any messages in the newsletter and at the following meeting.
This week a "Message from the YPad" was that it would be nice if the speaker used the microphone. People in the back of the room have trouble hearing if the microphone is not used. Thank you for your suggestion!

Marshal Rimann in "On Golden Pond"
Our very own Marshall Rimann will be in a production of "On Golden Pond" at the Paradise Dinner Playhouse in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Phil Hammond and his wife are going to see Marshall on August 8th. The Dinner starts at 6:15 and the Play starts at 7:30. Phil encourages other Rotarians to join them and they will car pool. Phil said he would drive and pick up another couple. To reserve tickets call 816-630-3333. Phil's tickets are being held in "Will Call" and can be changed to a larger table.
Additionally, President Amy and her husband will be going on Saturday, August 15th. If you wish to go that night, contact President Amy.
Caitlin McGrath from Horizon Academy was our speaker. Horizon Academy is a private school-- 1st through 12th grade -- in Roeland Park for children with learning disabilities. Caitlin was a very energetic speaker with a lot of good information. On Tuesday of this week Jerry Harper went to Horizon Academy to donate our children's books to their library.
