Camp Fire is a national youth development organization headquartered in Kansas City. Camp Fire provides a nurturing, constructive, and fun environment for young people to discover their sparks—unique skills, passions, and interests—and adopt a growth mindset. Ken Selzer, Kansas Insurance Commissioner and past-president of the Leawood Rotary Club, spoke to our club on Sept. 9th. It was an interesting and entertaining presentation, complete with historical facts (Kansas is one of the few states that elects its insurance commissioner, as opposed to appointing one) and equal love for both the Wildcats and Jayhawks.
On Sept. 2nd, Dinah Sykes was inducted as a member of the Lenexa Rotary Club! Her classification is Politician. She has a passion for service and serving her community. She is running for the position of Kansas State Senate in the upcoming election. Please take a moment to welcome her to our club and tell her why Rotary is important to you.
Chris Swanda gave an enjoyable talk about Survival Skills in the Business World, blending his barefoot survival techniques, an ability to "MacGyver" his way out of any situation, a sense of humor to our club on Sept. 2nd. Zach Ziegenhorn is our outbound student. His parents are also the host of our exchange student from Italy, Almi. Zach's mom tells me he is having an awesome time in Denmark!!
