This Friday will be the District Governor's Official Visit to Lenexa Rotary. District Governor Chris Ford is a US Army Veteran and became District Governor of District 5710 on July 1st. As Chris will tell us -- "Rotary Wants You!"

2016 Foundation, Membership Leadership Seminar - August 13th

Rotary FML (Foundation, Membership, Leadership) conference is Sat. Aug. 13 in Topeka. Get registered for FML! You don't want to miss this FREE district training event! All members are welcome to attend and learn about EVERYTHING Rotary. Board members are highly encouraged to attend.

Rotary Leadership Institute - "RLI"

The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a grassroots leadership and development program whose goal is to strengthen Rotary clubs through quality leadership education. The RLI program is great training for “new” as well as “seasoned” Rotarians. RLI can help with growing our clubs both with membership and meaningful service projects.

RLI training involves three (3) five-hour courses. A variety of the topics include:

the purpose and structure of Rotary,

attracting members, and how to improve their (and your) Rotary experience,

local and international service projects, and

team building and effective leadership strategies and critical issues such as attracting and retaining new members by engaging them as well as how we can better provide“service above self” are explored.

RLI is open to any Rotarian who is interested in learning more about our amazing organization. Besides networking and exchanging ideas with other Rotarians, attending will enhance your knowledge of all facets of Rotary and how it works.

The first of the three sessions of the next RLI class will be offered on Saturday, August 13th from 8:00 am to 3:15 pm at Washburn University. The second session will be held on Saturday, August 27th and the third on Saturday, September 10th nd and 3rd sessions will be held at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas. (Home of the T-Bones!)

The cost to attend is $90.00 which includes all three sessions including lunch plus a RLI notebook. Money will be collected during the first session.

Lenexa Rotary 50th Anniversary

On February 6, 2017, Lenexa Rotary will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary! A committee is being formed to come up with ideas on how to celebrate this milestone. If you are interested in being on the committee, please contact Amy Ruo at amyruo62@gmail.com.

During the meeting if you think of some thing that you want to share, feel free to jot it down on the YPad -- a random thought, a suggestion, a compliment, an idea for a speaker, a joke, etc. Each week President Amy will pick up the YPads and report any messages in the newsletter and at the following meeting.

There is a way to access security to buzz yourself in if Don Simmons is not present.

Read the instructions, and then access Security by arrowing up to the S’s, stop when on “Security” -- press the call button and Security will buzz you in after you state your name plus saying you are a Lenexa Rotarian.

Food service line opens at 11:45 a.m. For those who have business pressure they can arrive at 11:40 a.m. starting with salad, eat at 11:45 a.m. and be gone by 11:50 a.m. and still record for attendance. As you leave, be sure to check with the Secretary to ensure your attendance is recorded.
