This Friday . . .

Our speaker will be Dawn RattanTrustee at Johnson County Community College.  She was elected in November 2021.  She will be speaking to us about higher education governance.

Dawn was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Sumner Academy of Arts & Sciences. She received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Florida A&M University.  After graduating from college she married Manu Rattan, her husband of almost 24 years, and began her 11 year career with Procter & Gamble. She enjoyed roles in Operations and Human Resources in both Cincinnati and Kansas City. After leaving P&G, she was a stay at home mom to her 3 children, Maya, Rishi, and Nikhil. During this time she began to work in the family business as the Human Resources and Marketing Manager. In 2015 she was able to pursue her mission to create a community of fun fitness minded people when she opened EverFit in Shawnee.

She enjoys traveling and fitness. Dawn and her husband regularly support nonprofit causes like Braden's Hope, sacred and Sunflower House. She believes in giving back to the community.

Why did you join Rotary: Being new to the area I thought that it would be a great opportunity to meet people, and serve our community.

What is your favorite Rotary memory or project? Without a doubt, ShrimpFest! I have been a cook at the annual event since joining the club.
