SPORTS BALLS
DONATION TO ROSEHILL SCHOOL

Last Friday, Bill McCollum mentioned that he has been in contact with Rosehill School and they are in need of donations of new or used sports balls to be used at their school.  Please bring the balls to our Friday meetings or contact Bill McCollum.

Book Drive

Our Sergeant-At-Arms, Fred Spears, is starting a Book Drive to benefit the Learn to Read program, whose representatives spoke at our Club several weeks ago.

The drive will run through October. Fred will have a collection bucket at our upcoming meetings for new or gently used books.  Information sheets with a preferred book list will be available on the tables at this week's meeting. If you prefer to make a monetary contribution to purchase books, donations will also be accepted that way.  Thank you for your support.

Fred stated that he would like to have a pile of books 20 feet high!

What is/was your job or profession?
I got my undergraduate degree in secondary education Business/Computers 7- 12 grades and MLA in Education. I was so excited to start teaching that I accepted a job as a 1 st grade teacher in a private Christian school. Yes, long story! The rest of my teaching was three years in middle school and the rest of my career in high schools

What is your favorite sports team(s) and why?
Of course, do not miss watching our Kansas City Chiefs. Enjoy going to the training camp before the season starts in St. Joseph. Frequently, have watch parties with friends. Also watch and go to KU basketball, football, and lately going to the KU Women’s Volleyball games. (Both our daughters are KU graduates. Thus, where all our money went as well) Plus started watching Formula 1 racing. My favorite driver is Lando Norris on McLaren team. Our English friends got us interested in the sport

What is your favorite vacation destination, and why?
Living in Germany for a total of six years, we were able to visit many surrounding countries. All had their own distinct, unique beauty and history. My bucket list favorite country was visiting Egypt. I have always been fascinated by the Egyptian ancient Pyramids in Cairo, of course the famous Egyptian Museum, and floating down the Nile River. Priceless!

What is your ideal sandwich?
An outdoor grilled hamburger with a red onion, tomato, hold lettuce and pickles. Second favorite is a barbeque sandwich. Otherwise, not a big fan of sandwiches

If you are at a trivia night, what category would you know most about?
Not my favorite game. I am slow on the draw when it comes to answering questions. But I would say sports and movies
