Steve Nettles Occupation (or former): Educational Psychologist. My specialty was Psychometrics and I concentrated my career on occupational testing, especially licensing and certification testing. The first part of my career we lived in central Illinois and I worked for the Illinois Dept. of Personnel preparing civil service tests. We then spent 6 years in the Philadelphia area while I worked for the federal government overseeing federal grants to state governments. I finished my east coast stint at the
Educational Testing Service developing licensing exams for several clients. In 1985 I accepted a job with one of my clients in Lenexa which expanded from preparing one major healthcare group’s examinations to developing exams for 80 different occupations. I retired at the end of 2015. Tell us about your family: Barbara and I have been married 51 years. We have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. Additionally, I have one daughter from my first marriage, 4 grandchildren, and one great grandson. When did you join Rotary: March 2016 Why did you join Rotary: When I retired I wanted to find opportunities for service projects. Greg Peterson introduced me to ShrimpFest and Rotary. What Rotary offices have you held: Vice-President, President Elect and President, and Lenexa Rotary Foundation Chair. I am now serving as the District Chair for the Anti Human Trafficking Committee. What is your favorite Rotary memory or project? I enjoyed working on the food assembly project we used to do at SMNW, the ShrimpFest, and the Hope Builder ramp projects. When you are not working, how do you spend your time? I enjoy watching my family grow, listening to music, creating sawdust in my shop while building things - I built most of my audio speakers, and Canadian fishing trips with my brother and friends. |
