This Friday our speaker will be Ali O'Grady, the Community Liaison Officer for Variety KC-THE children's charity.

Variety KC provides area children with disabilities with access to programs and services that empower them to redefine their abilities and reimagine their possibilities.  Variety KC is THE children’s charity that supports a variety of special needs, in a variety of ways. They reject the notion that kids with special needs need to be fixed. Instead, they provide the necessary tools and access society requires so every child can confidently see, hear, feel and experience all the world has to offer.

Leap of Kindness Day-Feb. 29

Lenexa Chamber of Commerce sent out an email regarding "Leap of Kindness Day"

Chambers across the country are encouraging their members and communities to use their extra day this Leap Year to do something kind for someone else through Leap of Kindness Day. In honor of Leap of Kindness Day, we are pleased to highlight the important work Lenexa Chamber member non-profit organizations are doing in the community, many of which have volunteer opportunities and/or “wish list” donation needs.

That’s where you come in!  The Lenexa Chamber invites the business community to participate in this Leap of Kindness Day by donating your time, talent, and resources to help others.  The Chamber listed organizations in the area, which included Lenexa Rotary.  Click here to see the list.

WE ARE LESS THAN ONE MONTH AWAY

Tickets:  As you know, each member is required to purchase or sell AT LEAST 5 tickets.  If you have not picked up your tickets, Tedd Maxfield will be getting them to you.  Please get your money to Tedd ASAP.

Desserts:  Each member is required to bring at least one or two desserts to ShrimpFest -- cake, pie, cookies, brownies, Gluten Free desserts.  If you have any questions, please contact Amy Ruo.

Silent Auction Items - WE NEED ITEMS FOR THE SILENT AUCTION.  Please bring to the Friday meeting or contact River Meisinger or Fred Spears

We need all hands on deck for this event.  This event is important for our club to raise the money we use to support all of our good works. It is a major way we put service above self.
Peace Poles

2024 Peace Poles Project
Important Dates for Volunteer Opportunities

The jury approved 40 Peace Pole submissions.  The renderings were spectacular with a lot of diversity of where artists took the concept.  It’s really going to be something to see.  The topography of Black Hoof will add a lot to the display and arrangement.

The recipient charity will be Project 1020 and we will be using the auction platform of 32auctions.  Susanne Neely has been awesome in every way across the board.  I can’t say enough good things about her support of Lenexa and Rotary.

When did you join Rotary:  2017

Why did you join Rotary:

I was surrounded by Rotarians; Jason, Greg, and Steve Nettles. So when Greg Peterson invited me to attend a meeting how could I say no, it looked like a great way to get involved with my community since I was retired and it has been that and more

What Rotary offices have you held:    International Foundation Chair and Lenexa Rotary Foundation Board member

What is your favorite Rotary memory or project?

The look on people’s faces when you provide them with the tools they need to have clean water and the ability to share that experience with others from our club and our Interact students

When you are not working, how do you spend your time?

We like to travel especially taking cruises and going to spend time with our grandchildren. When at home we enjoy the performances at JCCC and playing with our dog. I also can burn hours researching our genealogy
