HopeBuilders-SATURDAY

Saturday, September 18, 2021

We will be building a ramp with Hopebuilders this Saturday, September 18.  The address for the ramp build is 45 Southwest Drive, Bonner Springs, Kansas.  This is a mobile home community.  The resident of the home is 75 years old and is confined to a wheelchair and has adopted two grandchildren, ages 11 and 15.

Arrival time is 8:30 a.m.  The existing porch will need to be razed and enlarged, then a 49" ramp built to the sidewalk.

All members are welcome to participate, as well as your partners, kids, grandkids, and anyone else you can drag with you.  It’s a very rewarding experience.  If you are interested, please contact Greg Peterson.

Beer Can Collection

It is that time of year again -- our annual Beer Can Collection!

The past two weeks, Fred Spears has been passing out of cans of beer to all members. If you haven't gotten one yet, please tell Fred.  All money collected this year will be donated to Heart to Heart International.

What to do with the beer?

  • Drink the beer
  • Rinse out and dry the beer can
  • Fill the can with coins, dollar bills or a check (made payable to the Lenexa Rotary Foundation)
  • Write you name on the can
  • Return to Fred Spears and he will give you another beer

Human Traficking - Justice U

In 2017, Rotary International took on the call to End Human Trafficking. You are invited to earn your Human Trafficking Awareness badge from Justice U™.  In one hour, you’ll learn what human trafficking is, how to see it, and how to report it.  And if you want to earn your full digital certification by taking all three courses offered in the Learn How to End Human Trafficking series on Justice U™, you can use the code ROTARYSWARM to gain free access to these courses + even more resources from Engage Together®, our partners in this effort.  Go here to sign up and learn more:  https://learnwithjusticeu.com/courses/

Rotary and County Square

To date, we know the majority of Clubs in District 5710 have indicated they will work to meet their goal of $50 per member: As a Bonus, District 5710 has committed $4,000 to help fund this effort.

Rotary is working with the County to develop a permanent signage/recognition element for the Tree Grove to memorialize this Rotary gift to the people of Johnson county - hopefully listing the participating clubs.

The current February membership count of the Johnson County Clubs is 587 Rotarians. At $50 per member, the District could easily reach  a total of $29,350.   There will be a prize for the club with the most significant percentage over their goal. The Lenexa Rotary Foundation has pledged $1000 but is requesting a $50 donations from all members.  All contributions from club members are voluntary. It is our hope that we will reach the $50 goal.

Please make your check out to "The Lenexa Rotary Foundation" and send your check to:
