This Friday our speaker will be Allison McLain, Director of Resource Development at Sunflower House.

The Child Abuse Prevention Coalition (CAPC) was founded in 1977 to provide education and advocacy to prevent child abuse.  In 1997, the CAPC merged with the developing Sunflower Children’s Center to become Sunflower House, Inc., a state-of-the-art, non-residential children’s advocacy center providing innovative, research-based child abuse education and intervention programs.

The first Children’s Advocacy Center of its kind in the State of Kansas, Sunflower House continues to build upon its successful abuse assessment and education programs that create safe families and communities. Sunflower House is an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance and a certified United Way agency.

We will not be having a formal meeting on Friday, July 5th -- BUT, Tedd Maxfield is organizing an informal gathering on July 5th at NOON at Zarda BBQ.  Come enjoy lunch with fellow Rotarians!
Change of Meeting Location-July 12

**New Meeting Location - July 12th**

Lakeview Village
Southridge Building - Treetop Room
5th Floor
14001 W. 92nd Street
Lenexa

For those of you who haven't been to the Treetop Room in the Southridge Building, there will be a person at the Security Desk to let you in, then take the elevator to the 5th floor.  When you come out of the elevator, turn right (there should be a Rotary banner displayed when you come off of the elevator) and go down the hallway and the room will be on the right.

Great Lenexa BBQ

THANK YOU to everyone who came out to work at the booth last weekend!  Friday night was way down in attendance. We sold all the alcohol last year. This year we had $2,700 as selling price leftover.  Both our clubs have upcoming events. If you could use any of the Beer and Wine, you can buy it at cost. We received a discount from Andy. First come first serve.  Contact Phil Hammond.

Rotary Youth Exchange
School Year 2024-2025

Lenexa Rotary will be welcoming a new Rotary Youth Exchange Student for the coming school year.  She is a girl from Chile and will be attending Mill Valley High School in Shawnee.

We have one host family and are still looking for two (2) more host families for the school year.  Please seriously consider being a host family and ask your family and friends if they would like to be a part of this wonderful experience.

This year the Lenexa Arts Council, the City of Lenexa, Kansas and the Lenexa Rotary Club have partnered to organize The Peace Poles Community Art Project. Over 30 individuals and groups have created Peace Poles that are now on display in Black Hoof Park. I encourage you to visit this outdoor exhibit. I will periodically post some of the photos that I have made of them. Cheers to Community Art & Artists!" ~ Marshall Rimann
