Did you know August is Rotary Membership Month? All Rotarians are ambassadors of Rotary and their clubs. This is especially relevant during Membership Month, when the focus is on building strong, vibrant clubs by inviting prospective members to join Rotary. Our club lost 5 members last year and we are down to 38 members. There are people in Lenexa and surrounding communities who would be perfect for Rotary. We need to build our club and reach out to our friends, neighbors, and business acquaintances. Ask them to come to our meeting -- we will pay for their lunch!
This Friday's meeting . . .
This past year, Lenexa Rotary sponsored Mackenzie Meier to go to Italy through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. Mackenzie recently returned and will be our speaker on Friday to give us a presentation on her year-long adventure. She will soon be leaving for college at the University of New Hampshire.
Notes from the "YPad"
Last week a note was left on the YPad suggesting a possible make-up opportunity. Thank you for the suggestion! The Board will discuss it at next month's Board meeting.
During the meeting if you think of somethat that you want to share, feel free to jot it down on the YPad -- a random thought, a suggestion, a compliment, an idea for a speaker, a joke, etc. Each week President Amy will pick up the YPads and report any messages in the newsletter and at the following meeting.

Lenexa Rotary - Books donated to Horizon Academy
School has started at Horizon Academy in Roeland Park. Pictured here are some of the students displaying one of the books that Lenexa Rotary donated to their school library. We were told that the students were very excited to have more books and they very much appreciated our donation.
Marshal Rimann in "On Golden Pond"
Our very own Marshall Rimann is in a production of "On Golden Pond" at the Paradise Dinner Playhouse in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
President Amy and her sister went to see this production last Saturday and it was outstanding. Bravo Marshall!
Dr. Teddi Wolff was our speaker last week and she represents the National Pork Council. Teddi is a veterinarian and gave us a very informative presentation on anything and everything a person should know about pork.
