ESRAG

Lenet Compton, was pleased to work with Dr. Rick Randolph of Ambassador Rotary Club on September 26th on a project for Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG), which they are both members, in partnership with Tradewater.  Tradewater is a mission-driven firm working around the world to safely collect and destroy harmful refrigerant gases before they are released into the environment.  In the past 5 years, Tradewater more than 1,000,000 pounds of potent chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants have been destroyed to avoid emissions equal to 4,200,000 tons of Co2.  That is the same as preventing the emissions from people driving over 10 billion miles.  Our work last weekend helped offset the equivalent of more than 500 tons of Co2 or the same thing as taking 100 cars off the road for a year.

Tradewater is excited to work with the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) and Rotary Clubs in this fight against global climate change through the small-scale aggregation of harmful CFCs.  We collect old CFC refrigerants (CFC stands for chlorofluorocarbon), in particular Refrigerants 12, 114, and 500.  Cylinders and cans of chlorofluorocarbon refrigerants remain hidden away throughout our communities in peoples garages and businesses. We work together to find these cylinders and cans and see that they do not end up leaking into the atmosphere.

Global Grant Committee
Dalton Brunner is now at the helm of the Global Grant Committee. The committee continues to monitor progress of the Navajo Water Project Global Grant and looks forward to working with the Shawnee Tribe on a local Needs Assessment.  Contact Dalton if you would like to be involved in this committee, have a Global Grant idea or would simply like to sit in on one of the meetings. All are welcome.

Need a Make-Up?

When a member misses a meeting, there are several ways to make up for the absence:
  • Attend a Club function -- board meeting, committee meeting, project, Youth Exchange
  • Attend a District or International function -- Rotary Youth Exchange, PETs, District Conference
  • Online make-up - Rotary eclub One - go to www.rotaryeclubone.org
  • Attend another Rotary Club meeting
    • While out-of-town for vacation or business
    • In-town around the KC area
    • Download the app "Rotary Club Locator" and find a Rotary club anywhere in the world.
Rotarians can make up for an absence at their club meeting within the same Rotary year.  If a member attempts to make up at another club and that club either did not meet that week, or changed venues, the club member can let their club's secretary know the date and time of the attempted make-up and it will count as a makeup toward a missed meetings.  Make ups also qualify if you attend an eClub meeting.   Send all make-ups to our club secretary, Bill McCollum via email.
