This Friday our speaker will be Marsha Bennett, the Vice President of Education and Outreach with the Johnson County Genelogical Society.

The Johnson County Genealogical Society and Library is dedicated to fostering genealogical activities in Johnson County, in Kansas, the United States -- and the world. We provide technical and personal assistance and encouragement to our members in their genealogical research, education and related endeavors no matter where their journey takes them. Most of us reside in Johnson County and we help out in research here, but our research can take us all over the world.

The Society also maintains a collection of genealogical publications at the Johnson County Central Resource Library. JCGS volunteers staff the genealogy desk at the library located at 87th and Farley Streets in Overland Park, Kansas

Important Dates for Volunteer Opportunities

March 2024

Help at the Artist meeting where materials will be distributed. (tentative – March 5)

April 2024

Help on the turn-in day when artists turn in their peace poles – April 17

May 2024

Check on the peace poles and notify artists if maintenance/repairs are required – throughout exhibit

Help with Awards ceremony/celebration at park – (May 23, tentative)

August 2024

Help with peace pole auction. City will support by providing space.

If you attended last week's club meeting, you received your tickets to Shrimpfest. If you weren't there, I have five tickets for you to sell (or buy and give away).

If you will be at Friday's meeting, I will give your tickets to you there. If you will not be there, please call me to schedule a time to come pick them up at my office or home. My cell number is 913.475.7691.

This event is important for our club to raise the money we use to support all of our good works. It is a major way we put service above self.
