Thank you to President-Elect J.C. Burcham for filling in for me while I was on vacation. I went on a family vacation to New York City, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and Massachusettes. We saw three baseball games in three different parks -- NY Yankees, NY Mets, and Washington Nationals. My family has now been to baseball games in all 30 major league stadiums and all the new stadiums built since our first visit. Additionally we saw the Boston Pops at their summer home at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts; visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art; saw a Broadway show; toured the United Nations; and visited John's family in Pennsylvania where we met a new great-niece born last Thursday. It was a great vacation. Now both of my kids are getting ready to go back to college in the next week. Thanks again everyone for covering everything while I was gone.
This Friday's meeting . . .
Dr. Teddi Wolff is a veterinarian and feed specialist for Zoetis (formerly Pfizer Animal Health). She works with feed mill operators and pork products on nutritional and medicated feed ingredients for pigs. Her presentation will highlight what's happening in modern farming practices that are enabling farmers to raise better food while improving animal care and protecting the environment. A fascinating exploration of the science and technology needed for farmers to do more with less land, energy and water.
Rotary Club of Lenexa - Bylaws. An email was sent out a few weeks ago about amending the Club's Bylaws to bring them up to date with current Rotary International Bylaws. The proposed changes were sent out with that email. We will be voting on the changes this Friday. If you need to see another copy of the proposed Bylaws, please email President Amy.
Notes from the "YPad"
You will notice that every week on each table there is a yellow pad, also known as the "YPad." During the meeting if you think of somethat that you want to share, feel free to jot it down on the YPad -- a random thought, a suggestion, a compliment, an idea for a speaker, a joke, etc. Each week President Amy will pick up the YPads and report any messages in the newsletter and at the following meeting.
Since President Amy was on vacation the past two Fridays, the YPads were not on the tables. They will return this Friday. Feel free to leave a note!
Cost of meals for guests
Due to an increase from Lakeview Village, effective this Friday, August 14, 2015, the meal cost for a guest will be $14.00. There is no charge for a prospective member.

HopeBUILDERS
Last week Rotarians Greg Peterson and Rick Morton along with several teenagers including two of Rick Morton's grandsons, worked along with HopeBUILDERS to build a ramp on a house in Kansas City, Kansas. Several times a year, our Club does this project to help people in the area with repairs to their homes. If you are interested in helping, please contact Greg Peterson.
Marshal Rimann in "On Golden Pond"
Our very own Marshall Rimann will be in a production of "On Golden Pond" at the Paradise Dinner Playhouse in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Phil Hammond and his wife are going to see Marshall on August 8th. The Dinner starts at 6:15 and the Play starts at 7:30.
Doug Cundiff gave a great presentation last week about the Deanna Rose Farmstead. He said they expect to have approximately 500,000 visitors this year. There is a great need for volunteers. If you want to volunteer contact Doug at 913.897.2360.
