This Friday . . .

Our speaker this Friday will be Melanie Arroyo.  Melanie was elected to serve as a Ward 3 council member in November 2021, making her the first Latina to join the Lenexa City Council.

Melanie is a graduate of Shawnee Mission Schools and graduated from the University of Saint Mary in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Psychology. She continued her education at Emporia State University where she graduated with a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and a master’s degree in Art Therapy.

Currently, Melanie works as a clinical counselor and art therapist, and is the owner of her private practice. She has experience working with children and adults from a range of cultural backgrounds, disabilities and diverse identities.

As a mental health professional trained in trauma informed care and cultural humility, Melanie brings a unique perspective and listening ear to City Council and to the residents of Ward 3.

Lenexa Rotary Grove

Peace Pole at Clear Creek Park (Lenexa Rotary Grove)

Lenexa Rotary purchased a Peace Pole to place in Clear Creek Park. The Pole and message goes hand and hand with RI's Peace Fellowships. The Rotarians that agreed to donate to the price, please make a check out to The Lenexa Rotary Foundation and either give it to Alan Kruckemyer or Phil Hammond

Additionally, the  Board approved adding Dennis Moore to the Rotary Grove. Members can donate money to the  Lenexa Rotary Foundation and we will take that money and plant a tree and place a plaque at The Lenexa Rotary Grove in Clear Creek Park.  Please give checks to Alan Kruckemyer or Phil Hammond.
Future Community Projects?

Given the success of the Community Peace Pole Art Project and auction to raise money for Project 1020, what future community/Rotary partnership projects would you like to see undertaken with partnership of Lenexa and Western JOCO Rotary Clubs?

Please respond to me by December 3rd.

Thank you,
Lenet Compton
