This Friday, our speaker will be Maggie Witte, a Librarian at the State Library of Kansas. She will be talking to us about Kansas Talking Books.
Kansas Talking Books provides personalized library support and materials in a specialized format to eligible Kansas residents to ensure that all may read. This no-cost library service features:
Audio books, audio magazines, braille books, and braille magazines mailed directly to your house and returned postage free.
Special equipment lent to you at no charge.
A collection that includes romance, mysteries, bestsellers, science fiction, westerns, biographies, fiction, children's books, young adult books and more.
Find your next good read and get library help by calling 800-362-0699, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Download books and magazines from the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) website or by using the BARD Mobile app.
Any Kansas resident with a visual impairment, physical impairment or reading disability that prevents the reading of traditional print materials is eligible for Kansas Talking Books. Schools and medical facilities who serve qualifying individuals may also be eligible.

It's always a good day when a good friend has a Boulevard named after him, and his badge is retired. Congratulations and Cheers to Lenexa Rotarian Fred Spears for 20 years of service on the Overland Park City Council!
Inspire peace, hope, creativity and community involvement. The Peace Poles Community Art Project is a series of 6-foot-tall wooden poles designed by community members and adorned with original art and messages of peace. The project is returning to Lenexa in 2024, and we invite community members to participate.
Residents, community groups, businesses and artists are encouraged to show their creativity and share messages of peace. All levels of artistic expertise are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Artists have until Jan. 31, 2024, to submit a sketch of their design. A jury committee will then review and invite accepted participants to decorate their pole(s) to be displayed at Black Hoof Park during summer 2024.
