Summary of Last Week's Meeting:
Last week's meeting was the Annual Installation Dinner at Panzon's. President Doug recognized Phil Hammond as Rotarian of the Year and Matt Janes as New Rotarian of the Year. He also recognized and thanked Jerry Bowmer as outgoing Secretary and Jerry Harper as outgoing Program Chair. Phil Hammond presented Paul Harris Fellows to Evelyn Hornaday and Greg Peterson.
District Governor John Donovan was in attendance and congratulated President Doug on a successful year. He was impressed by the number of projects we do every year and encouraged us to keep up the good work and to increase membership and give to the Rotary Foundation.
Past Assistant District Governor (and President Amy's sister) Joni Amos Pflumm swore in the new officers and also personally presented Paul Harris Fellows to Amy and John Ruo. President Amy then spoke briefly about the upcoming year. She would like to grow membership and also have one new project and encouraged everyone to bring any new project ideas to her. Amy said that the theme for this Rotary year is "Be a Gift to the World." Rotary International President Ravi states: "Everyone of us has something to give -- whoever we are, whatever our place in life. We can give our talent, our knowledge, our abilities, and our effort; we can give our dedication and our devotion. Through Rotary, we can take these gifts and make a genuine difference in the lives of others and in our world."
