This Friday . . .

Our speaker will be Dr. Susan Harrison, corporate trainer.  Dr. Susan Harrison is a gifted keynote speaker, award-winning author, corporate trainer, and certified life coach, who believes life should be filled with fun, positivity, and chocolate. With disarming transparency and trademark humor, Dr. Harrison shares her struggles and successes in work and personal interactions. She has helped thousands of professionals all over the world develop effective business and life skills. Her areas of expertise include communication, customer service and positivity. When not speaking for conferences or companies, she can often be found trying to keep her cat out of the neighbor’s yard while simultaneously coaching on confidence. Nominated five times as the nicest Kansas Citian, she strives to stay kind in this topsy-turvy world!

Human Trafficking "Rotary Cares Kits"

**Help Needed**

Thank you for your generosity in donations for our Rotary Cares District Grant to help human trafficking victims.

Below is a tally of what we have gathered so far with our District 5710 partners. As you can see we are good on toothbrushes! I suggest we concentrate on any of the bolded items for this Friday. You don't have to donate all 4 items - unless you want to! Also - you may pick any of the other items with low numbers.

Just a reminder - we are planning on assembling the duffels on February 18 from 10-12 in Topeka if you would like to participate. More details will follow.

Please contact me with any questions.

Tickets:  Tickets were distributed to members last Friday.  If you haven't gotten your tickets, please contact Tedd Maxfield or he will find you.  Each Rotarian is required to purchase/sell 10 tickets @ $30 each for a total of $300. There is a prize given to the member who sells the most tickets. Please turn in your ticket money to Tedd when you have it so that we can deposit it into our account to pay for food/supplies for the event.

There are sponsor brochures available at the Check-In Table.  Included as one of the sponsor categories is a "Family Sponsor" for $100.  The cost is $100 PLUS the cost of the ticket for each family member at home or two couples.  It also includes a 5:00 early entry ticket.

RYLA - June 4-8

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

University of Kansas, Lawrence
June 4-8, 2023

There are several past participants of this program that stated their experience was life-changing and made them more aware of their capabilities. It is common to see a student become emotional when talking about their experience with RYLA. For many students, this is their first exposure to Rotary and what we, as Rotarians, can accomplish. The projects and exercises in this five-day camp are designed to get the students to think differently about certain situations and develop their own solutions with fellow students they may have not met before attending the camp. Many students worldwide, who have attended RYLA, have continued on to become members of an Interact, Rotaract, and eventually a Rotary club.

The University of Kansas in Lawrence will once again host District 5710's Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA).

AmazonSmile to discontinue donations
In 2013, Amazon launched AmazonSmile to make it easier for customers to support their favorite charities. We were excited about the potential for the program and the impact it could have for many charitable organizations. We want to thank you for your partnership during all these years.

After almost a decade of running AmazonSmile, we learned that with so many eligible organizations—more than 1 million globally—our ability to have an impact was often spread too thin.

We are writing to let you know that we have made plans to wind down AmazonSmile by February 20, 2023. Until this date, customer purchases made via AmazonSmile will continue to accrue funds for your charity as normal. To help nonprofits like you plan ahead, we will also provide you with a one-time payment equivalent to three months of payments based on what you accrued in 2022 through this program. The timing of this final payment will be approximately 60 to 90 days after February 20, 2023. We hope that this will help minimize the impact that this decision might have.
