I am pleased to announce that, with the help of District 5710, the Lenexa Rotary Club is hosting two foreign exchange students this Rotary year. Alma Lauricella from Brescia, Italy and Ana-Gavriela Blidaru from Valcea, Romania. Alma will attend SMNW and Ana-Gabriela will attend SMW. I will share more background information on each of the girls as the summer progresses so we will be in-the-know by the time they arrive in August.
My thanks to Greg Peterson for being our club's Youth Exchange Office over many years. He left large shoes for me to fill. That job begins now with finding host families. Each girl has their first host family and they both need a host family. Please reach out to me if you are interested in hosting January thru May 2017 or know someone who may be interested in hosting. Stacia Stelk, Director and one of the original founders of Ripple Glass, spoke to us about the need for and challenges of glass recycling. Her goal is to see everyone in the Kansas City area recycle glass. Ripple Glass has many partners that help make their recycling program a success, including Rimann Liquors, Boulevard Brewing Company, and others.
