Mulvane Art Museum

 

 

 

2018 Bob and I went on a Rotary Friendship Exchange (RFE) to South Africa and the friendships remain!  One of the USA teammates, Richard Ross, took me on a tour of the Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University.  He was instrumental in adding to their permanent collection, Pulitzer Prize winner, Brian Lanker's photography exhibit, I Dream a World, Portraits of Black Women who Changed America.  This is an amazing tribute to 75 accomplished black women.  My favorite is Josephine Riley Matthews who successfully delivered 1,300 babies in the deep south then graduated high school at the age of 74.  I hope you will take the time to trek to Topeka to see this marvelous exhibit.  You can also see the photographs and read their stories by CLICKING HERE.

On the flip side of the exchange, we just finished participating in a rubber ducky race with the eClub of Greater Cape Town.  Sadly, Bob and my ducks did not even place.  Covid is horrible, yet we still have many ways to connect with Rotarians/friends around the world.
