Through the wonder of Rotary, some of you may remember when the Azerbaijan group came to town during Past President JC's year. Gunel Mehdiyeva stayed with Lenet and Bob Compton during week-long visit. In a recent email with her she shared life in Baku with Covid. It puts perspective on our regulations.
"We have a very strict quarantine regime here. It will last until 5th of August and a special quarantine regime will last until 31st of August. What that means is that, under strict quarantine regime people leave the house with SMS/text messages for 2 hours. I have my work ID card, but we work from home. I can use my card during the day, but after work hours end, I go out by sending a certain code, and receive sms which permits me to leave the house. And it can be taken only once a day. After July 20th, it will be 3 hours. It is very hot here. We can't go to the beach because the quarantine regime prohibits it. Domestic travel is prohibited. I can't go to regions/camping. But to tell the truth I feel the need for vacation."
