This time of year is very exciting for Rotary Youth Exchange -- students are travelling to their destination for the coming school year.

This year Lenexa Rotary is sponsoring an outbound student to Columbia -- Nyah Noronha (she was at our meeting two weeks ago).  We hope to get updates from her mother, April, so we can hear how her year is going.

We are also sponsoring one inbound student from Belgium -- Laure Guyot -- who arrived last week.   She is currently staying with Melissa Sindt and her family.  Laure will be 18 on August 17th.  She is from the village of Ny which is primarily agricultural.  Her English is very good after attending a school that has English immersion for English and History classes.  She has two younger brothers and a younger sister at home.  Her mother is an ophthalmologist and her father works as the town doctor.  She likes to draw and has a natural talent for it.  Laure will be part of the Shawnee Mission West Pride Marching Band and will be marching at all the Shawnee Mission West home football games if anyone wants to come and watch her!
